Calgary Arts Development is piloting a new arts grant program focused on funding the arts in east Calgary. The Arts For All Grant Program will accept funding applications in 2013 and 2014 from individual artists collectives and organizations primarily for projects within the Greater Forest Lawn community.
The program is part of a partnership between CAD and the International Avenue Business Revitalization Zone (partially located in Forest Lawn) to encourage artists from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
CAD says applicants who live outside Greater Forest Lawn are welcome to apply if they have project ideas that “value participation from local artists and community members as well as the participation of artists organizations and community members from diverse backgrounds.”
The Arts For All program will also award $5000 to an individual professional artist living in Greater Forest Lawn to cover two months living expenses in order to allow the recipient to work full-time on their art.
Further details and an online application form will be available next week at CalgaryArtsDevelopment.com. The deadline for project funding and the $5000 grant is November 15 4:30 p.m. The deadline for a second round of grants is 4:30 May 30 2014.
