CTF asks candidates for their views
The results are in for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s mayoral and aldermanic election survey A Taxpayer Friendly Council? The CTF asked candidates five questions about whether they supported using taxes to replace the Saddledome their preferred means of limiting tax increases city employee raises whether they would return to taxpayers the $52 million in extra taxes inadvertently taken by the city and if they would disclose their campaign donors’ identities before the October 21 election.
Four of the nine mayoral candidates and 27 of 49 aldermanic candidates responded to the survey. Highlights include: 88 per cent of responders said they will disclose their donors before the election 72 per cent would return the $52 million to taxpayers and 75 per cent opposed paying for a new Saddledome with tax money.
