The Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts is facing an uphill financial battle after council finalized the city budget with no money for the centre to cover a $420000 funding gap left by the province in last year’s provincial budget.

The city did approve $315000 to cover any shortfalls in 2014 but that pledge was not renewed for 2015.

On December 17 the centre will host its AGM and is planning to make a “special announcement” likely to focus on its future plans and a new name. Epcor ceased its named sponsorship agreement with the centre in 2010 and the organization has been searching for a new identity ever since.
