I am not a big fan of Lay’s potato chips in general as I have previously stated. Sure they do the trick when I am in need of a quick chip but if there are other options available to me I usually skip out on Lay’s. They do not satisfy as much with their flavours and there is something about the large size of the chip that rubs me the wrong way.
Fortunately I was handed a bag of these by my employers at FFWD and it may have changed my opinion at least for a little while. These chocolate-covered chips are pretty damn good.
Putting sweet and savoury together can be a dangerous combo and in many cases it will end up being too much of one or the other. The chips are wavy which is a good thing. If they were any thinner they would get crumbly and messy.
They are dipped in chocolate but they look kind of sloppy. There are patches of chocolate rather than having the whole chip being coated in chocolate. I’m not really a stickler for the looks of a snack though. As long as it tastes good that is fine with me!
The chocolate is quite heavy but it does balance out quite nicely with the salty chip. It is also kind of messy as the chocolate starts melting on your fingers as soon as you grab a chip. It forces you to down these bad boys as soon as possible!
I was handing some chips out to my friends at work and everybody seemed to enjoy them. A few people (myself included) did mention that they couldn’t eat too many as they were quite rich. My stomach was gurgling in a really weird way after a few but it might just be because I have a horrible diet. Either way the bag is better to share with friends.
Unfortunately these chips are only available for a limited time. Probably for the Valentines chocolate rush. I’m sure you can get similar snacks at any other point during the year but you may as well grab these while they are easily available.
