Crime Does Not Pay presented by Downstage & Forte Musical Theatres runs until March 11 at Engineered Air Theatre. They had me at “darkly funny.”

• Friday night head down to the Palomino for Port Juvee’s SXSW Kick-off with Bad Animal and guests

• Saturday there is much to do! Check out some great art at the opening of SPECULOOS (SEarch for Planets Eclipsing Ultra-cOOl Stars) curated by Ashley Scarlett and Justin Waddell, and taking place at Untitled Art Society.

• Later Saturday evening you can support Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) at their annual Black & White Ball. Dancing, live music, impromptu dance performances, silent auction and more – not to be missed!

• If you’re more inclined for some comedy, Colin Mochrie will host the Second City Guide to the Orchestra presented by the CPO at the Jack Singer Concert Hall Saturday.

• Monday you can start the week off with some music at the Ironwood featuring Wendy McNeill with Chantal Vitalis. Who doesn’t love Chantal Vitalis? No one.

• Tuesday sees the opening of Assassinating Thomson by Bruce Horak and presented by Inside Out Theatre, taking place at the Glenbow Museum until March 18.

I should just call this Top 7 picks…
