Word’s spiciest pizza, Canadian bacon pickle balls, and crispy chicken feet are just some of the tasty treats that will be on offer at this year’s event.
It’s here.
Almost as anticipated as the unveiling of the musical lineup for the Calgary Stampede — the Coca-Cola Stage, Nashville North and the Virgin Mobile concert series — is the announcement of the new, exotic, possibly unconsumable food options that will be offered on the midway.
This year’s list is just as delightfully and bitefully bizarre as previous ’Pedes, and includes “the world’s spiciest pizza, Canadian bacon pickle balls, deep-fried Jell-O and a metre long sausage.”
“These are foods you won’t forget,” Calgary Stampede midway operations manager, James Radke, said in a release.
“They push the envelope of traditional midway food. Our goal is to have you find your new favourite flavours on the Stampede midway, and have a great time doing it!”
Other taste sensations that can be sampled over the July 7 to 16 event include: The Cookie Dough-ne, which is raw cookie dough in a waffle cone; the trendy new Thai rolled ice cream; mini perogies with chili lime and popcorn shrimp; a double bacon mac n’ cheese dog; ice cream sandwiches made with marshmallow squares; clam chowder poutine and lobster poutine; deep fried butter chicken balls; a flatbread pizza with slow roasted pulled rabbit topping; and crispy chicken feet on a stick.
