Top picks for getting out July 6 – 13

We run down your best entertainment bets in Calgary for the upcoming week, including Sam Roberts Band, Tiger Army, Preoccupations and more.

Here we are already, Stampede, and there is a metric truck-load of things to see during the next 10 days, including mostly music, but there is plenty of art to take in as well.

At the Wildhorse you can take in Michael Bernard Fitzgerald July 6, Sam Roberts Band on July 9, The Trews July 10, Elliott Brood on July 11, BC/DC July 13 and Wil on July 15 — info available here.

The King Eddy will feature Leeroy Stagger July 7, Lindi Ortega July 8, Ghost Boy July 9, Nice Horse July 10, Mariel Buckley and the Big Rig Sweethearts July 11, Blake Reid Band July 12, Fred Eaglesmith July 13 and 14, and JJ Shiplett on July 15 — info available here.

They have an app! Download it to figure out where to look! In the evening, head to The Palomino to see The Matinee with the North Sound and guests.

• Monday: Comedy Monday Night at Broken City features Brad Muise & Kris LaBelle.

• Wednesday: Preoccupations will play the Commonwealth. Sure to be a great show!

For those of you heading down to the Stampede Grounds this coming week, save yourself some trouble with finding parking and take advantage of car2go’s Drop Zone from July 6 – 16 at 620 – 13 Ave S.E. Drive your car2go to the Drop Zone for designated parking. As a person who lives close to the grounds, I appreciate you not parking in my alley.
