Steven Page named next RBC Master in Residence at NMC’s Studio Bell

Want to learn some valuable lessons from a Barenaked Lady?

OK, a former Barenaked Lady.

But a Hall of Fame one.

The National Music Centre has announced that Steven Page will be the next RBC Master in Residence at their East Village home Studio Bell.

Page, who was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at this year’s Juno Awards in Vancouver because of his past work with the pop act — which he left to pursue a solo career back in 2009 — “will provide insight into his process and offer new perspectives to aspiring songwriters.”

He joins past Masters techno legendt Richie HawtinRaine Maida from Our Lady Peace, producer-songwriter-artist extraordinaire Daniel Lanois.

“Steven Page is one of this country’s most distinct and successful tunesmiths, and we’re excited to provide the opportunity for emerging artists to work one on one with a Hall of Famer,” said Adam Fox, NMC’s director of programs, in a release.

Submissions for any Canadian musician who wants to be mentored by Page are now open, and can be submitted here. Deadline to apply is midnight local time on Monday, April 23.

While here, the musician will also participate in a songwriters’ circle that will be open to the public with paid admission into Studio Bell (space is limited). Stay tuned for more information on that.
