Top picks for getting out April 19 – 25 including CUFF, nêhiyawak, Vince Neil, Aimee-Jo Benoit

Uh, I don’t want to alarm you all, but there seems to be some giant, crazy warm orb in the sky that is improving everyone’s mood … What a perfect time to get out and enjoy stuff that’s going on in our city! Maybe even *gasp!* walk to some events without fear of spraining your knee when you fall on the ice or offending people with the colourful language that you use to describe the cold and snow! (Full disclosure: I sprained my knee slipping on the ice and I used very colourful language at the time.) But what’s happening in town, Kari? Glad you asked …

Thursday: Opening tonight is Mimic, a co-pro with DJD and the Old Trouts! This show runs until May 5, but don’t wait to get tickets. Also ongoing is the Calgary Underground Film Festival currently taking place at The Globe — with their Saturday morning cartoons this weekend! Found Footage Festival! Fun Fun Fun. If 4/20 and rock & roll is your thing, then you’ll be happy to note that the 420 Music & Arts Festival hits town today and runs into the weekend. Also tonight is nêhiyawak with FOONYAP at Studio Bell. And that’s just Thursday!

Friday: Theatre Calgary’s presentation of The Secret Garden opens tonight and runs into May at the Max Bell Theatre, and heh heh, Vince Neil from Motley Crue is at the Grey Eagle! It’s also Poutine Week, people. Load up on yer starches and yer carbs.

Saturday: Afternoon fun starts at the Ship & Anchor with Shona Rae and the Voodoo Hand hosting open stage with Busker Du (love!) at 2 p.m., and then into the evening you can take in Fever Feel with the Ashley Hundred at Gateway, or you could head down to the Ironwood and check out Well Mannered Thieves (…they cleaned us out, but wow, were they polite! Or something like that).

Wednesday: Luke Combs and Ashley McBryde will be performing at Gateway, and for some jazzy goodness head to the Parlour Room in The Commons in Ramsay to check out Aimee-Jo Benoit and Trio Velocity!

There is so much more going on in this city than you can imagine. Check out all of the listings to plan your week ahead!
