Top picks for getting out May 10 – 16 including David Sedaris, Supersuckers, The Secret Garden and more

Wow. There’s really a lot of awesome going on in our fair city this weekend and into next week, and there is something for pretty much everybody. Want proof? Here!

Thursday: You can still catch Theatre Calgary’s production of The Secret Garden at the Max Bell Theatre, and if you are into musicals then you really should! I defy you to stop sining the songs after a week … or two … or three … But if you’re more into something a bit less theatrical, head over to The Blues Can to check out Jason Elmore!

Friday: If you find yourself downtown at lunchtime, head over to Loft 112 for their Long Lunch with Josephine Lore, who will be presenting Unity: A Collection of Poetry, Fiction and Photography at noon. For your classical music fix, might I suggest heading to the Jack Singer Concert Hall for An Evening of Mozart featuring the CPO and Fei Fei Dong on piano? Or if you are kicking yourself for missing Lunchbox Theatre’s production of Miss Caledonia while it was downtown, fear not! It has a short run up at the BMO Theatre at the Rocky Ridge YMCA — go tonight!

Saturday: All music, all the time. TesseracT with Northlane, Plini & Astronoid at The Gateway, or Glitch Mob with Elohim & Anomalie at the Marquee, or head to The Palomino where they’re celebrating their anniversary with Mark Mills, Brass, Calgary supergroup Gone Cosmic and many, many more. Your choice!

Monday: Alberta Playwrights’ Network presents the LGBTQ+ Youth Riot Performance Showcase at Lunchbox Theatre – go and check out what these talented youth have created!

Tuesday: David Sedaris is at the Jubilee. David. Sedaris. But also the Supersuckers with A-Bomb and The Foul English at the Palomino … tough call, but I truly believe you’ll make the right choice. (Pssst … do both!)

There is so much more going on in this city than you can imagine. Check out all of the listings to plan your week ahead!
