Pssst, everyone … the weekend starts NOW! Well, not technically, you probably still have to go to work today and tomorrow, sorry for getting your hopes up, but as per usual we are inundated with things to do this weekend and into next. Don’t believe me? Pfffft. Read on.
Thursday: Kathy Griffin – Laugh Your Head Off tour will be at the Jubilee, and by all accounts will be a great show. Cowtown Opera will be presenting their production of Figaro’s Wedding at the Mamdani Opera Centre, and “Weird Al” Yankovic will be a the Grey Eagle. Did we always put his name in quotation marks? Hmmmm …
Friday: 36? (yes!) with Dark Time (check out their video premiere on our site) and High Parade will perform at the Palomino, and for something a little different you will for sure want to check out the Dolly Wiggler Cabaret over at the Legion downtown (two nights! Go!). At the Palace you will find Tritonal —10 Years of Enhanced with guests.
Saturday: There is a new Farmers & Makers Market happening every Saturday until Oct. 6 over at cSPACE, King Edward School! Check it out, it looks pretty cool. In the evening you might want to head to the Leacock Theatre for Hearts & Minds featuring John Stringer in support of the BreathingRoom program for youth.
Sunday: 4th Street Lilac Festival, people. If you live in the neighbourhood of Mission, my thoughts are with you. If you don’t, then please be kind, don’t park in front of people’s driveways, leave your pooches and strollers at home and get down to see what this neighbourhood has to offer!
Monday: Hey! It’s PechaKucha Night #33! Theme this evening is “Not” and it takes place at the Legion downtown. Love that Legion.
Tuesday: Sage Theatre’s 2018 IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists starts tonight and runs until June 9 — get out there and see what these amazing artists/performers are up to at everyone’s favourite interdisciplinary festival!
Wednesday: Ocean Alley will perform at The Gateway. Boom.
There is so much more going on in this city than you can imagine. Check out all of the listings to plan your week ahead!
