Western not your thing?
Well, there’s plenty of music going on this weekend in the city other than Country Thunder.
One of the best? How about the release party for Calgary alt rock quartet All Hands on Jane’s new EP Animal Worship — a superb, six-song, sludgy chunk of (every good girl deserves) fuzzy fudge that was recorded by local producer Kirill Telichev at his Sound Priory studio.
The party takes place Saturday, Aug. 18 at Dickens and is sure to be a sweaty, noisy, messy mass of awesome humanity.
Just like its country cousin, we want to send you to the show for free.
The Janes have been kind enough to give us a pair of ducats to the gig, which also includes the ridiculously stacked lineup of 36?, Gone Cosmic and Colby Morgan. To enter to win, well, you know the drill: Head to our Facebook page, find this posting and in the comments tag a friend you want to take. We’ll pick a winner at random and let them know via direct message by noon Friday, Aug. 17.
In the meantime, head back here in the coming days for a feature interview with All Hands on Jane — one of many local acts we’re proud to support and feature on theYYSCENE.
Oh, and if that’s something of interest to you — local arts, culture and lifestyle coverage — please consider supporting us through our ongoing Patreon campaign.
