The National Music Centre’s Alberta Spotlight series delivers world-class sounds made in the area and the latest concert is the perfect one to showcase that, with a superb lineup of homegrown hip-hop
Calgary’s Cartel Madras headline the show, which should see them tearing the roof off of the King Eddy on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Dubbing their style “Treaty 7 Tamil Goonda Rap,” the female hip-hop duo of Contra and Eboshi — along with DJ Egglad — are a mix of Dirty South, old-school, electro, funk and dub, but all nasty, empowered, excellent badassery.

Also on the bill is fellow local rapper Jae Sterling and Edmonton producer Hood Joplin.
Again, it should be a night of raw rhymes and meaty beats.
