Country Thunder Alberta will be packin’ a lotta heat this year.
The country music festival, which takes place next year Friday Aug. 16 to Sunday, Aug. 18, has announced the headliners who will pack Prairie Winds Park in Calgary’s northeast, and they include one of the genre’s hottest supergroups — Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies, the trio she shares with Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley. A set by the group and Lambert will be the final act on the opening Friday.
The headliner for Saturday night is Florida-born chart-topper Jake Owen, the man behind such hits as Barefoot Blue Jean Night, Alone with You and Beachin’.
They join previously announced Sunday closer Jason Aldean.
Other announced performers include Alberta’s own Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Terri Clark, Lauren Alaina, Roots & Boots featuring Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye, Shawn Austin, Meghan Patrick, Jimmie Allen, Jordan Davis, the Hunter Brothers, and outsider country legend Steve Earle.
More artists are still to be announced.
