Twice the charm?
Definitely the taste, complexity and warmth.
If you’re looking for something to impress the discerning whisky lover on your gift list this holiday, you’re going to want to track down — if you still can — a bottle of Eau Claire Distillery’s delicious Single Malt Whisky Batch #002.
With their second limited edition of their craft, caramel-coloured, cold-chaser, the Turner Valley-based, small-batch producers have upped their game and brought so much more flavour from their field to your glass.
“This subtly complex whisky has flavours of sweet red fruit with underlying vanilla and caramel,” describes Eau Claire’s master distiller Caitlin Quinn in a release. “A long oaky finish and raisin undertones, this whisky is a testament to traditional craft – it is remarkably mature for its age, but young and innovative in its outlook.”
In other words: Yum.
Batch #001, which announced Eau Claire as the first single malt whisky distillery in the province, sold out its entire 2017, 1,000-bottle run to members of their Cask Club newsletter.
The second pre-sale to those same folks sold out in 24 hours, but there were still a precious number of the 750-ml bottles that went on sale last month to the public at a suggested retail price of $95. (Note: You’d be willing to pay much, much more.)
It’s “non chill filtered, natural colour with an ABV of 43 per cent” and it will make any December night a cozy one.
Drop by, call, email, tweet at any one of your favourite local spirits purveyors to see if they have one left for you or the whisky-lover amongst you, or you can contact Eau Claire directly at email@example.com or by phone at 403-933-5408.
Yes, they’ve said they expect “to do annual whisky releases of single malt, increasing as our dunnage warehouse stocks mature,” but why wait?
Get in early and taste its amazing progress.
