Fernie resort Snow Valley Lodging offers first ‘Tiny Home Hotel’ accommodations in Canada

Size really does matter.

Which is why Snow Valley Lodging in Fernie, B.C. — a close destination spot for many Calgary outdoor lovers — has added this country’s first Tiny Home Hotel to its accommodations options.

There are six full-amenity, one-bed, one-bath rooms that are perfect for the traveller who doesn’t need a ton of space in a homebase in order to take advantage of all that the area has to offer.

Here’s a description of what the Tiny Homes feature: “a full kitchen with gas stove, oven, fridge, coffee maker.  In the living room a double sofa bed with a memory foam mattress and a wall mounted 32-inch High Definition Television with full cable. The loft is designed to be cozy with a handmade blanket, a queen size foam mattress and a 24-inch Television. A storage compartment at the end of the bed for your travelling convenience.  A full bathroom with 7-feet high ceiling.  All have original, unique artwork from one of our local artists.”

Sounds like a small slice of heaven.

The resort, which has been owned for the past two decades by Veronique Roy and Jason Burt and was formerly known as Snow Valley Motel, is in close proximity to the the skiing and snowboarding offered at Fernie Alpine Resort, as well as the many biking and hiking trails and other nearby outdoor pursuits, and, of course, the dining and entertainment options in town.

“We are so excited to pioneer the first Tiny Home concept in Canada and truly believe that this type of destination will appeal to people seeking a wonderful, positive experience at exceptional value,” Roy said in a release. “The feedback we’ve received so far has been overwhelming and we welcome anyone seeking a unique, boutique experience to come and stay with us.”

The rooms are only part of recent renovations and updates to Snow Valley Lodging, which also features “unique cabins, an indoor common space, … a charming communal courtyard (and) a penthouse suite (that) also includes access to the Lodging’s rooftop patio and garden.”
