One of the most anticipated local album releases in a very busy couple of weeks in the Calgary indie rock scene is the sophomore effort from The Shiverettes.
The raging, righteous punk rockers’ Real Shrill Bitches drops Thursday, April 18 with a show at the King Eddy, which is also part of Studio Bell’s Alberta Spotlight series showcasing the best that this province has to offer.
Tickets are selling fast for this gig, which also features Edmonton’s Wares and nouveau local Riot Grrll duo Mademoiselle, and we don’t want you to miss it.
That’s why we’re giving away a pair of ducats to Thursday’s release. To enter to win, please head to our Facebook page, maybe give us a like, find this post and comment underneath tagging the name of someone you’d like to go to the show with. We’ll let the winner know via direct message by the end of the day Wednesday, April 17.
And if you’re undecided, please allow us to tempt you further. The amazing Shiverettes have allowed us the honour of streaming a trio of tunes from Real Shrill Bitches before the album’s release: Very Cool Dude, Trust and Spiteburger.
It’s a pretty great overview of what you can expect to hear from the album — angry balls of hate and short, jagged shards of social justice delivered with a musical glee, energy and enthusiasm that makes it enjoyable no matter the message.
Have a listen, enter to win and come back later this week for an interview with the band.
