Keep it classy, Alberta. Or classical.
It’s sure to be both, Thursday, May 16 in Studio Bell’s Performance Hall for the next instalment of the National Music Centre’s Alberta Spotlight series.
Up this time is a special evening of music featuring the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s associate conductor, pianist Karl Hirzer, who will be accompanied by Calgary-born, Vancouver-based soprano Allyson Hop for “an art song recital of music by Richard Strauss and Leonard Bernstein.”
And what is art song? Good question.
“Born out of the desire to set poetry to music, the medium of art song remains one of the most intimate and affecting forms within the classical genre.”
So, yes, classy, classical — and you can be there.
Our friends at NMC have given us a pair of tickets to give away to what should be a wonderful night of music. To enter to win, head to our Facebook page, perhaps think about giving us a like, find this post and tag a person in the comments that you would like to share the evening with. We’ll pick a winner at random and let them know via direct message by the end of the day Wednesday, May 15.
Good luck all.
