This week is off the charts! Pride Week is pretty much taking over and it is fabulous! There are too many events going on this year to detail every! single! one! but check Calgary Pride’s website for a full schedule. What else is going on around town? More like what isn’t going on around town!
Thursday: Octoduck EP Re-Release Patio Party over at Broken City; Spin Thursday with Archive Pat at The King Eddy; MCA Day — Beastie Boys Tribute Night with DJs, bands, silent auction and waaaay more over at the Commonwealth; Sashay, Fillet! takes place at Hotel Arts as part of Calgary Pride, and Lucas Chaisson’s Album Release happens over at the Ironwood.
Friday: Reignwolf with guests King Nun will be at the Mac Hall Ballroom, while Bryson Waind with Surf Kitties, Danny Vescarelli and Steve Rozitis will be at the King Eddy. The BUMP Festival presents Movie in the Park featuring Beautiful Losers over in Memorial Park, the 50 Shades of Colour Kiki Ball will take place at Last Best Brewing & Distilling, Free the Cynics Single Release will happen at The Unicorn Pub, Queer Cab Fab Drags – Indigenous Drag presented by Making Treaty 7 is over at The Grand, Return of the Living Dead is being screened at The Globe and Fiesta Filipino takes place at Olympic Plaza. Whew.
Saturday: Pride Brunch over at Brewster’s? Why not? The BUMP Festival Alley Party takes place at Inner City Brewing just a few doors down after you’re done brunch. The Treaty 7 Dyke & Trans March takes place at 1 p.m. starting at William Aberhart Park, Dinner Club’s Weekenders Tour happens at Vern’s with guests Scratch Buffalo, The Dial-Ups and County 23, while over at the Saddledome it’s … IRON MAIDEN.
Sunday: The Pride Parade takes place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. starting at 421 – 6 Ave. S.E., The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be screened at the Globe tonight, and the Fake Mustache Pride Ball takes place at Dickens.
Tuesday: CUFF Field Trip: Beat Street (1985) was rescheduled, and it’s happening tonight at the Globe!
Wednesday: WordFest presents Philippa Gregory at The Grand; Sleep with guests will be at The Palace, and Sun Kill Moon will be at the Commonwealth.
