All you need is love.
It’s everything. Or it’s nothing. But it’s always something.
Southern Alberta singer-songwriter Amelie Patterson gets into the weeds of the matters of the heart with her latest single Everything, Nothing.
The sweet-souled songstress croons smoothly, beautifully on the track that was released in March — Patterson’s latest single from her “concept-driven studio project, The Playlist.”
It is, ultimately, about love and “and how it’s uniquely your own experience, but it’s also a ubiquitous force around the planet.”
The song was recorded with producer Graham Lessard (Reuben and The Dark, The Barr Brothers, Stars), who, “took the folk fixations of the song and surrounded it with organic instruments with an electronic sensibility,” for a gorgeous ambient, folk-pop feel.
Joining the sessions were local players Barry Mason, Kyle Tenove and Carson Gant.
As for the delightfully affirming and celebratory video, which theYYSCENE is honoured to exclusively premiere before its April 2 release, it comes from a very real and, like the seeds of the song, organic place.
Patterson “asked her followers to send short video clips highlighting the positive moments through the past year. As weird as 2020 was, we found wonderful ways to connect and spread love through the challenges.
“This song is about the enduring power of the human spirit, and the ways in which we reach out to connect, both on a personal level and on a broader scale.”
Please enjoy.
