The roar returns.
A little louder.
Calgary C&W music fest Country Thunder has announced that after a COVID hiatus it will return to the city in 2022 — with perhaps its most impressive lineup to date.
Contentious superstar Morgan Wallen, chart-topping duo Florida Georgia Line and Lee Brice are set to headline the summer weekend, which runs Aug. 19-21 at Prairie Winds Park in the northeast.
Also on the lineup are HARDY, High Valley, Clay Walker, Aaron Goodvin, The Washboard Union, MacKenzie Porter, Laci Kaye Booth and Kameron Marlowe.
“The city of Calgary has been incredibly supportive since we debuted in 2016,” says Country Thunder Music Festivals CEO, Troy Vollhoffer.
“To be able to return with a line-up of this magnitude is all about delivering to some of the best and most loyal music fans anywhere in the world.
“Live music has returned to Canada and we’re thrilled to be able to celebrate in Calgary in 2022!”
Wallen grabbed headlines last year in large part to the release of his massive-selling album Dangerous: The Double Album, as well as a few well-documented off-stage antics, which included an SNL appearance that was delayed because of his unmasked partying and a drunken “n”-word-dropping incident that made its way into the world via TMZ.
Despite the industry’s attempts to blacklist the artist, Wallen’s album recorded 7 billion on-demand streams and was on top of the Billboard album charts for 10 consecutive weeks.
Florida Georgia Line, the duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, “have amassed 13 No. 1 hit singles over five albums” and one decade, and Brice is on a hot streak that includes a pair of recent back-to-back No. 1 hits.
Three-day passes for this year’s local Country Thunder, as well as Reserved Seating, the Platinum Experience, Bud Lite Lounge and all the extras are available from countrythunder.com or order by phone at 1-866-388-0007.
