7th Annual Rhythm, Body and Soul Tap Festival

Including Heather Cornell (New York), Travis Knights (Toronto), Sarah Savelli (Cleveland), Jay Fagan (Chicago), Jessie Sawyers (Seattle) and Tasha Lawson (Calgary). Alberta based Jazz virtuoso’s Chris Andrew (Piano), Kodi Hutchinson (Bass), and Jon McCaslin (Drums) join the stellar international faculty for an unforgettable weekend of rhythm and music!

The festival offers world class education and performance opportunities to tap dance students and rhythm enthusiasts through Master classes, concert presentations, panel discussions, video showings and interaction with live musicians.

The focus is to advance and celebrate rhythm tap and the percussive arts, to develop a vibrant, inspired, and creative tap dance community in Calgary, to create a platform for the creation and presentation of new tap work, and to connect the Calgary tap and music communities by facilitating national and international relationships.

Rhythm, Body and Soul will kick off at 7:30 p.m. @ the North On Centre with a Viewing of historical Tap works, and personal discussions with the RBS faculty.

Friday through Sunday will offer over 30 Master Classes and Workshops at the new Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Dance Centre.

Friday evening offers a Live Music Jam. The jam is open to Tap dancers, body percussionists, spoken word artists, swing dancers, musicians, and spectators!
8 p.m. @ North on Centre.

Saturday evening will present “The Oscar Peterson Experience”, featuring the International RBS faculty and musicians. 8 p.m. @ DJD Studio Theatre.

The festival will close on Sunday evening with the “RBS Participant Showcase” featuring festival participants, youth ensembles and ‘up and coming’ Rhythmic Artists. 7:30 p.m. @ DJD Studio Theatre.
