Conduct presented by SCPA

February 9, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm MST

$16 – $21

Conduct is an ambitious new performance project that charts new artistic territory for the School of Creative and Performing Arts. This Drama production is inspired by the controversial life and work of composer Henry Cowell, who has been extensively researched by Music Professor Jeremy Brown. Bringing together theatre, music, dance and new media, Conduct examines Cowell’s fascinating life and music as a window on 20th century art and society, addressing themes such as innovation and eccentricity, morality and prejudice, sexuality and identity, and creativity in captivity. Conceived and directed by Bruce Barton, Conduct has been created by ten faculty members and over 60 students from Dance, Drama and Music, who have collaborated to offer audiences an immersive production that is a feast for the imagination and the senses. The experience includes blindfolds, walking and standing in small spaces with irregular floor surfaces, and a special performance soundscape that audience members are asked to download as an app to their phones.

Because of its immersive nature, there are only 72 tickets are available for each performance of Conduct. Patrons are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets online in advance in order to avoid being disappointed at the door.
