Cyclepalooza – Calgary’s Annual Do-it-yourself Bike Festival

July 16, 2019 @ 8:00 am - July 21, 2019 @ 11:00 pm MDT

As a community driven festival anyone interested can attend, or organize to host their own ride by going to the Festival Calendar at cyclepalooza.ca. If you do not see something that tickles your interest, or happening in your community in the City, consider adding a ride that you think others would enjoy. We have how-to resources to support you in hosting from the simple to the elaborate.

Three standout rides happening this year are:

  • The 4th Annual Foldie Fondo on Saturday July 13 at 8:45 a.m., a 60 km leisurely ride along Calgary’s pathways stopping at a cafe in Fish Creek Park and ending at Alforno Cafe and Bakery.
  • A yearly favourite, the Spoke and Word poetry ride, happens Monday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. and is a great FREE all-ages, all-abilities ride.
  • On Thursday, July 18 at 5:00 p.m. there’s a Stamps Vs. Argos Game and Bike Tailgate Party with participants cycling from all quadrants to celebrate our city’s team and to and encourage active modes of transportation to and from the game.

The 10 day festival culminates with Bike Prom on Saturday, July 20 at 6:30 p.m., the annual promenade through the streets of Calgary where anyone can join wearing their finest (or most fun) attire. This year’s route starts at The Rise on St Patrick’s Island, travels along the Bow River Pathway and ends at the Sunalta Community Hall. Even if you don’t join the ride, we encourage anyone interested to meet us at the Hall at 8:30 p.m. to socialize the night away. Those who are interested in the Bike Prom after-party should sign up for a FREE membership to garner an invitation and more information about the event via cyclepalooza.ca/membership.
