June 16, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm MDT

The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), led by Music Director Rune Bergmann, concludes its current Season on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Calgary’s Jack Singer Concert Hall with a special tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven.
“We start the concert with a more refined classical style performing Beethoven’s first symphony,” said Rune Bergmann, Music Director of the CPO. “This represents the starting point for the most beloved composer in history. The second half showcases a full orchestra with soloists and chorus for Beethoven’s ninth symphony demonstrating how his music evolved and shaped history.”
The concert concludes the first year of the CPO’s Live-Streaming Initiative, which provides a fully immersive digital concert experience to audiences around the globe. Viewers can tune in for free atwww.calgaryphil.com/live-stream at 8 p.m. (MDT) on Saturday, June 16, 2018 to enjoy this concert.
The CPO’s live-stream initiative uses one of the most robust recording systems in the world specializing in capturing live symphonic performances. Since the project launched in September 2017, the CPO has broadcast four concerts in high-definition showcasing the Orchestra with acclaimed guest artists including iconic cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and violinist Ning Feng. It also live-streamed the ground-breaking world premiere of True North: Symphonic Ballet, a commission commemorating the sesquicentennial anniversary of Canada and honouring the landscape and indigenous heritage of the country. All of these performances have been archived and are available to view free of charge at www.calgaryphil.com/live-stream.
