We make no secret of our love for Mariel Buckley.
She is one of this region’s best and brightest singer-songwriters — a winner on every level.
Now it’s official. This past weekend, Bucks earned herself top prize in the Project Wild artist development competition, which came with a sweet cheque for $100,953 to help further her career.
And on Thursday, Dec. 12 Buckley will take something of a victory lap when she wraps up the National Music Centre’s Alberta Spotlight fall series with a show at Studio Bell.
It should be a helluva night with the artist being backed by a seven-piece band and her promising it will be her last local show for the next little while.
