Dare to Care
Montreal-based fire-starters We Are Wolves is a multi-lingual throwback to the early experimental days of punk combining high-energy garage rock with instrumental dance riffs. Invisible Violence rips from the starting gates with “Paloma” and the eerily poetic imagery of its refrain “I give love to the whisper of the wind every night;” however it’s a pace that can’t be sustained as the band stumbles halfway through with mid-tempo dance numbers “Reaching for the Sky” and “Blue” which don’t do much to advance any new ideas. We Are Wolves’ live show has found the band a natural home in Montreal’s art crowd but it needs to work more on bringing its recordings up to the same level.
