The BottleHouse Beer Parlour

Burger : Street Fighter Burger ($13.95) — a six-ounce patty topped with back bacon a fried egg havarti cheese tortilla strips kalamata mayo lettuce tomato red onions and a pickle all on a toasted poppyseed bun.

Sides : Choice of fries soup or salad. Upgrade to sweet potato fries or poutine for an extra $2.85. Also on the side was a fancy toothpick skewering a cherry tomato a gherkin and a pearl onion.

Atmosphere : It’s a long rectangular room in a spot on Memorial Drive that is legendary for being bad luck for restaurants. The walls have various Canadian memorabilia including licence plates and vintage Canadian Pacific railway posters.

Menu : Salads appetizers soups sandwiches entrees pastas and flatbreads make up the balance of the menu. There are also a few different burger options.

Decision : As I squished the burger in order to bring it down to an edible height the egg yolk oozed out and onto my plate. I wish I could have filmed it in slow motion. I don’t think I would ever tire of watching it.

This was definitely one of the better toasted buns that I have had in recent memory. Too often the char on the bun veers toward the "lightly toasted" end of the scale. This one was done perfectly. The tortillas added some nice crunch and the other toppings were fresh and used moderately enough that they didn’t step on each other’s toes.

This one is worth checking out for sure.
