Michael J. Fox headed to town in the future … for the 2018 Calgary Expo

Marty McFly is headed home.

Edmonton-born actor Michael J. Fox will be returning to Alberta for an appearance at next year’s Calgary Expo. Organizers announced on Monday that the 56-year-old will be one of the guests at the 2018 event, which takes place April 26 to 29 at Stampede Park.

Fox is best known for his role in the Back to the Future franchise as well as sitcoms such as Family Ties and Spin City. He’s a multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, who has a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame as well as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2010 he was made an Officer in the Order of Canada.

In 2000, he also started the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research — a condition that he suffers from.

More info on his schedule for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo will be released soon.

Tickets for the 13th annual edition of the convention go on sale Wednesday, Nov. 15 from calgaryexpo.com.

For those who can’t wait until next spring to get their geek on, the Expo is holding a Holiday Market Nov. 25 and 26 at the BMO Centre on the Stampede grounds. Admission to the market, which will have Santa, Stormtroopers and plenty of nerd-approved stocking stuffers, are $10 for adults, and children 12 and under get in free. For tickets, to see all of the vendors who will be onsite and to check out Santa’s photo schedule, go to www.expoholidaymarket.com.
