Kathy Griffin, Bon Iver, Alice Cooper, Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman announce Calgary shows

It’s the concert equivalent of March Madness.

This Monday brought a cavalcade of show announcements — both musical and non — for Calgarians.

First out of the gate on this a.m. was the news that comic Kathy Griffin will be bringing to town her Laugh Your Head Off Tour — see what she did there?  — for a May 31 date at the Jubilee Auditorium.

“Donald Trump will not survive the live and hilarious indictment I will be bringing down on his orange head. Did I say head?” Griffin said in the release announcement.

“You’re gonna get the whole story. We will talk about THE photo that sparked a conversation around the world, how my mom Maggie still watches Fox News and thinks I might be in ISIS, and hell, I’ll even walk you through my interrogation by the feds. You’re not gonna get that story anywhere else! Oh, and did I mention that my next door neighbours during this whole ordeal are none other than Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye Kardashian-West?”

Griffin continues, “My show isn’t for the faint of heart so leave your kids at home. My motto is ‘Funny First.’ But don’t worry, we’ve got some serious smack talking to do about everything and everyone,” before adding, “with love, of course.”

Tickets for that show are $49.50 (plus service charges) and go on sale Friday, March 16 from ticketmaster.com.

On the musical side of things, May also brings a visit from Bon Iver. The indie darlings led by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon will hit the Stampede Corral for An Evening With Bon Iver on May 29.

Ducats for that one will run you $49.50, $59.50, $75 and $99.50 (plus service charges) and go on sale March 16 from livenation.com.

Perhaps combining the first announcement with the second, Alice Cooper will bring his severed heads to Calgary on Aug. 22 for A Paranormal Evening With Alice Cooper on Aug. 22 at the Jubilee.

Tickets are $35, $45, $75 and $99 (plus service charges) and will also go on sale March 16 from livenation.com.

And finally, what should be something else entirely, filmmaker-actor-podcaster Kevin Smith and radio host-actor Ralph Garman will make a stop at MacEwan Hall May 8 with their Hollywood Babble-On Tour.

What’s it about? This, apparently: “Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman take a twisted look at showbiz news and bite the Hollywood hand that feeds them. Sometimes, they feel bad and give Hollywood a tetanus shot and some Neosporin, but, even then, they usually just turn around and bite Hollywood’s other hand. They can’t help it. It’s their nature. It’s like that “scorpion and frog” story. But, deep down, they’re just two nice East Coast boys… who happen to have a heavy dependence on drugs and alcohol, respectively.”

If that sounds enticing, tickets for that are $59.50 (plus service charges) and go on sale, yes, you guessed it, March 16 from livenation.com.
