Win tickets to see Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet at Studio Bell

More homegrown goodness from our friends at the National Music Centre, as their Alberta Spotlight Series continues Friday, May 18 with what should be an amazing night of music.

Headlining the Studio Bell show is eclectic jazz act Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet, the project of Edmonton-based Juno-nominated saxman Sangster and his wife, classically trained violinist Joanna Ciapka-Sangster.

And the music they make with a few of the regions best players is described as “an elegant blend of classical, tango and jazz elements, performing works by Astor Piazzolla, Chucho Valdes, Cole Porter and a collection of Kent Sangster’s original compositions.”

Joining the octet as openers are local Latin Flamenco act La Mosca, who should heat things up quite nicely.

Tickets are available now from Studio Bell’s website here (or you could also, cough, cough, click on the ad you see on your right, cough, cough).

Or, we can get you in for free.

They have kindly given us tickets to give away for this amazing evening of music. To enter to win, once again, we’re going the easy route. Just go to our Facebook page, find this posting, and give us a hello, a high-five, a kind word — anything that makes us smile.

We’ll let the winner know by direct message by the end of the day on Thursday, so good luck.

Oh, and another gentle reminder, if you appreciate what we do and support independent media in Calgary, please consider becoming a patron of theYYSCENE by pledging to our Patreon campaign.
