Scene In the Wild Podcask: Episode No. 15, Calgary comic Cory Mack

Welcome back to the Scene In the Wild Podcask.

After a hiatus due to life, there is a new episode — this one featuring veteran Calgary comic Cory Mack.

Mack has been a presence on the Canadian comedy scene for the past 25 years, starting off in standup, where she was part of the Yuk Yuk’s stable that toured clubs across the country, later then venturing more into the corporate world. She’s also a huge supporter of the community, in 2011 earning the very first Roger Abbott Award for her contributions to the Canadian Comedy Awards, and in 2012 she co-founded the YYComedy Festival.

We sat down in the Wild Rose Taproom and had a lively, wide-ranging conversation that included: her first time getting on a stage; her training in the standup world; some of the more colourful experiences of life on the road; a discussion on gender in comedy along with her thoughts on the Louis C.K. incident; and her brief foray into the political world.

Thanks, as always, to Lorrie Matheson who produced Scene In the Wild at his Arch Audio Studio, to Wild Rose for supporting the Podcask, the Taproom staff for all that they do and to Mack for sharing her story.

I hope you enjoy it.

And if you do, please seek out past and future episodes — yes, we will be back in two weeks — on this site or subscribe and download it for free from the iTunes store.

Cheers.
