Exclusive video premiere: Watch I Miss You the first single from Calgary pop band Dark Time’s debut

Every so often we’re given the honour of sharing exclusive songs, videos and even albums from local acts.

The latest is the new clip for Calgary pop act Dark Time’s I Miss You, the first single from their self-titled cassette debut, which they’ll release Friday, June 1 at The Palomino with a show that also features High Parade and the wonderful weirdos of 36?.

Here’s what the band has to say about the sweet, breezy, summer tune and accompanying video:

“The video was directed by the band’s singer, Cayley O’Neill, and produced by Ryan McClure Scott. The stop-motion vision captures the never-ending cycle of birth and death through a fever dream of stop motion animation. Bright flowers are plucked, planets explode and balloons are popped. The idea is to never give up on creating something out of nothing. Creating magic is easy to do when we are children, however life can become complicated as we age and we sometimes forget to imagine and play.

“The project took three days and was very collaborative with a rotation of friends of the band circling the stop motion table, contributing ideas and adding to the final project.”

If you can’t make it out to Friday’s release, make sure you check out Dark Time at the Ship and Anchor Wednesday, June 20th with Michael Rault, BBQT and Le Plaisir as part of this year’s Sled Island.
